MA Women for Obama update letter

Dear Friends,

Two things:

1 – I don’t know if you follow Bill Maher but if you love satiric political comedy you won’t want to miss his recent online standup show “CrazyStupidPolitics” which can be found HERE

And in case you haven’t heard – he just donated a cool million to Bill Burton’s Super Pac “Priorities USA Action“, the only Super Pac supporting the re-election of President Obama.

2 – Most of us can’t afford to donate a million dollars, but some of us can stretch to donate to the Obama Campaign, and attending a great event makes it much less painful. Which brings me to the upcoming reception and dinner events in Boston with First Lady Michelle Obama.

Tickets to the March 9 events are selling briskly – I wouldn’t be surprised if we sell out by the middle of the week. If you are planning to attend but haven’t yet signed up I urge you to do it now.

From our INBOX: Gregory Craig’s remarks August 2011

An email from John Tener- member NESC -

Dear Friends,

A number of you have mentioned in recent days your disappointment with some of President Obama’s  alleged failures, and failures to respond to the Republican’s obstructionist tactics  after they took control of the  House  last January, 2011.  Two things  have become  clear to me: one,  we all have not fully being doing our homework regarding the President’s quite incredible record since he took office on January 20, 2009.  And, two,  many of us have forgotten the full circumstances that obtained in the months leading up to his Inauguration.

As part of an effort to, as we lawyers say,  ”set the record straight,”  I enclose a copy of a short speech I heard this past August by Greg Craig, the former White House counsel and long-time Democratic Party  legal adviser.  Craig was part of a seven speaker “Voices for Obama ” program on Martha’s Vineyard that featured a number of prominent artists, poets, musicians, novelists, and academics :

Day of Service at the Tobin School in Boston

by guest blogger – Barbara Weniger

On Saturday May 21st a gathering of volunteers came together at the Tobin School in Boston for a day of Community Service.  Three years ago President Obama called on all Americans to find projects in their own communities to get involved with and members of the New England Steering Committee and Women for Change have been volunteering at the Tobin School.  At 9 a.m. a group of us arrived and began working on clearing the grounds around the school and planting flowers and shrubs.  This seemingly small step does a lot just to enhance the experience of the students as they come and go to school each day.  Saturday was a nice cool day and with a large group of us helping it did not take long to get the job done.  There are so many ways we can each contribute to improving things and this is one of them.  When President Obama was in Boston on May 18th he spoke about how when the quality of life is improved for any one person it makes life better for all of us.  Thanks to everyone who helped at the Tobin School on Saturday!!
