John -

Thanks for setting the record straight. President Obama has had the deck stacked against him since the day he took office. IMO, it's not so much the result of not agreeing with his ideology or his policies, (Republicans have supported some of the very initiatives he is trying to pass), but it's more a case of not showing common courtesy and respect; not viewing him as a legitimatley elected president. Never before in my lifetime have I seen such vitriol and hatred waged against a sitting president.

Let's see; 14 million people out of work? Congress continues its diatribe of 'where are the jobs?' but fails to act to address the problem. It defies logic to think that we can 'cut' our way to a balanced budget. Go ahead and gut social security, medicare, education, infrastructure, and every other social program that is at the heart of what makes this country the most desireable place on earth to live. Mind you, there is waste, fraud, and abuse that must be rectified, but that's not the only thing responsible for our woes. Greed, entitlement, and special interests are the culprits.

And what's Mitch McConnell's top priority? To deny President Obama a second term. That will no doubt foster a spirirt of compromise and working together. When you have a Republican party that unanimously votes lock-step against everything, and refuses to do anything that will make Obama look good, (never mind doing what's in the country's best interest) such as passing some iteration of the 'American Jobs Act', or raising revenue (taxes), which every reputable economist states must be part of any meaningful strategy to reduce the deficit, you will continue to see a country divided.

I believe that on election day 2012, most people in this country will see right through this obstructionist methodology, and will hopefully run these do-nothing members of Congress out of town on a rail. They do not deserve the distinction of being called servants of the American people, because they are not; their only interest is to serve themselves and their fat-cat lobbyists and big-business contributors...the almighty 1%.

I apologize for the rant, but that's my humble opinion.
