First Lady in Boston

The ICA events yesterday were terrific.  Hats off to the wonderful host

committee who worked so diligently to make this happen.  The panel discussion

was impassioned and informative, and the First Lady made an amazing

speech.  I say – Michelle in 2016!!

Dear Friend ,

In this important election year, it is crucial that activists and volunteers are prepared with information on policy matters that will be talked by voters on the campaign trail.

To help you be prepared, our Public Policy Committee will be hosting a policy forum bringing together experts on government, taxes, jobs and healthcare — some of the issues sure to be on the voters’ minds.

We want to make sure you have accurate information to talk to your friends, family and neighbors. Please join other Democratic activists at this exciting opportunity.

Hope to see you there,

MA Women for Obama update letter

Dear Friends,

Two things:

1 – I don’t know if you follow Bill Maher but if you love satiric political comedy you won’t want to miss his recent online standup show “CrazyStupidPolitics” which can be found HERE

And in case you haven’t heard – he just donated a cool million to Bill Burton’s Super Pac “Priorities USA Action“, the only Super Pac supporting the re-election of President Obama.

2 – Most of us can’t afford to donate a million dollars, but some of us can stretch to donate to the Obama Campaign, and attending a great event makes it much less painful. Which brings me to the upcoming reception and dinner events in Boston with First Lady Michelle Obama.

Tickets to the March 9 events are selling briskly – I wouldn’t be surprised if we sell out by the middle of the week. If you are planning to attend but haven’t yet signed up I urge you to do it now.

Conference Call with First Lady Michelle Obama tonight – come to Boston headquarters – 77 Summer Street – link below

Attend a House Meeting

MA Dems Headquarters in Boston is having a house meeting tonight for the conference call   https://my.barackobama.com/page/event/detail/womenforobamaevent/gppvc8#rsvp

Tonight, women across the country will hold hundreds of house meetings to build relationships in their community and hear from First Lady Michelle Obama via conference call. House meetings are at the core of our strategy to win, and attending an event is a great way to inspire others to take ownership over this campaign in your community. Women are coming together in living rooms to talk about the issues that matter most to them, and why organizing for President Obama in 2012 is so important in this election.

We have everything to lose – support the re-election of our President and have a great time as well.

Dear Friends -

You may have read in the Boston Globe about the upcoming visit by our
First Lady Michelle Obama. The date is Friday March 9 and tickets are available now.

Please remember that although we sell “tickets” to events, this is really a
donation to the re-election campaign, and as has become apparent,
women in particular have everything to lose
if we do not take action to support the re-election of President Obama.

Please RSVP soon as we expect this event to sell out.

This Tuesday: Chefs For Obama at the Cyclorama

Most every weekend there’s a chef competition going on somewhere around the city, but none of them are quite like the upcoming Chefs for Obama event. This Tuesday, Boston’s best chefs (no really, like ALL of Boston’s best chefs) are getting together to support Obama’s campaign for re-election.

Each chef will each serve an original dish and a panel of Judges including Ming Tsai, Governor Deval Patrick, and Massachusetts First Lady Diane Patrick will pick out the best. Since there are no rules or parameters to the dish the chefs create, this is a real opportunity for the chefs to show off their true personality as a chef—which, to me, is just about the most exciting thing I’ve heard in 2012.

chefs4obama.jpg

I’ve seen many of these chefs at events before, but never Barbara Lynch. I figure she’s probably just doing really important legendary chef things instead. She will be in attendance though! General admission for the event is $250 — Buy tickets here. See ya there!

Massachusetts Women for Obama Newsletter

Hello Friends:

Welcome to the first 2012 newsletter from

Massachusetts Women for Obama (MA WFO).

MA WFO was formed in 2007 to work to elect Barack Obama to the Presidency. After the 2008 election we continued to work together calling ourselves New England Women for Change. Now, in 2012, our primary focus is working to re-elect President Obama, and once again we call ourselves MA WFO.

We congratulate our immediate past director, Kathleen Manning Hall, who successfully managed the mayor’s race in Malden and has taken a position as Chief of Staff for Mayor Gary Christenson.   We have been privileged to work with Kathleen over the past four years and we will miss her dearly.  I will try to fill Kathleen’s shoes as director of Massachusetts Women for Obama.   I look forward to working with all of you over the next 10 months.

For more information on the evolution of the MA WFO, visit our
unofficial blog’s “about” page.

Save the Date: First Lady Michelle Obama will be in Boston on the afternoon/evening of March 9th.
We are planning a large reception in the afternoon followed by a small high dollar dinner in the evening. We will notify you as soon as more details are available.
Let us know if you a interested in joining the Host Committee for the First Lady Event – we anticipate our first host committee meeting in February.

Stay informed on current women’s issues:
Check out our blog, which we regularly update with issues relevant to Women in New England, as well as the White House Council on Women and Girls.

Thank you for your dedication to the re-election of President Obama and we hope to see you at an event soon!

Head to New Hamphire – GOTV time

Happy New Year to all!

As we roll down the homestretch for the first Caucus—tomorrow in Iowa, and the first Primary— January 10 in New Hampshire,  I suspect we are all enjoying the entertainment provided by the Republican candidates, as they battle to best one another (and don’t worry—the Obama team is taking careful notes of all the slamming being done by one of another).

The real purpose of this email is to encourage you to consider more active participation on OUR side, by lending a hand to the NH effort over the next eight days.

There are a multitude of ways on a choice of days, for you to help—you can make calls as soon as Wednesday from Boston, or this week from Arlington or many other Boston suburbs, or you could take a weekend day trip to canvass or call in Nashua, Manchester, Derry, or Portsmouth.  There is also a substantial GOTV effort planned for Primary Day itself, if you have the time next Tuesday.  This weekend carpools are leaving from Boston, Cambridge, Newton and many other places, but you also can travel solo and on your own schedule or with your own group.  One thing is for sure—the Campaign can surely use you help, and nothing sharpens your ability to advocate for Barack Obama more than practicing it!

I hope to see you at the phone banks, and let me know if you are planning to head north.

There are plenty of reasons to be discouraged, I realize, but there is much that has been done (—if you don’t have a hefty list of accomplishments I shall send you one), and certainly there is so much more to be done.  We need to insure that President Obama is in office for a second term, and that won’t happen without your help.  Just take a look at Eric Cantor last night on 60 Minutes if you need any clarity on this point.  http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=7393500n

So please make a commitment—even an hour or two on the phone, and it will definitely help.

Below I list a few of the options for assisting in NH, and if nothing suits then check out many more at https://my.barackobama.com/page/event/search_simple?source=primary-nav (you’ll need to click “no” to view all the options).
