Who are New England Women for Change?
OUR ROOTS…
NEW ENGLAND WOMEN FOR CHANGE was formed in February 2007 and was originally known as Massachusetts Women for Obama (MA WFO), a group dedicated to electing President Barack Obama to office.
During the 2008 primary season, MA WFO worked for then candidate Obama in seven states (as well as Puerto Rico), where we canvassed, worked phone banks, attended rallies, fundraisers, and communicated Senator Obama’s message of hope to community groups.
While the general election campaign played out, MA WFO hosted highly successful fundraising events in and around Boston and on Martha’s Vineyard, raising significant funds for the campaign. From late summer 2008 through Election Day, we canvassed tirelessly in New Hampshire on the weekends and phone banked regularly from Boston. During the last two weeks before Election Day, many of us worked hard in NH and in distant battleground states.
POST ELECTION…
2009 & 2010 – we continued to work to support and advance the President’s agenda. We helped to implement President Obama’s agenda by supporting progressive Democratic candidates and collaborate with Organizing for America, the political arm of the Democratic National Committee.
NEWFC also coordinates with the New England Steering Committee – the regional fundraising arm of Organizing for America, which meets regularly in Boston to discuss recent political developments — often with a guest speaker from the administration — and to plan upcoming events.
2012 -
We will once again call ourselves Massachusetts Women for Obama as we rally the troops and support President Obama in his re-election bid.
There is no better time than now to get involved -
Everyone is welcome; there is no price of admission. Please contact us by email to participate. info@womenforchange.org
